About the Credit Risk, Money-Owed Team:

The Credit Risk Money-Owed team at Wealthsimple operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where data drives every decision. We focus on analyzing and resolving account debits while ensuring timely client reimbursements through robust data infrastructure and analytics. Our team embraces Wealthsimple's Maker Owner and The Client culture values as we build scalable reporting solutions, develop insights that inform risk management strategies, and support operational workflows. We take naive ambition seriously, leveraging data and analytics to continuously improve debt resolution processes while working closely with various stakeholders such as product, engineering, compliance, and market risk to build a data-driven, client-first brokerage business.

About the role:

As an Associate in Data and Analytics on the Credit Risk, Money Owed team, you'll be at the heart of our data operations, building the reports and analytical frameworks that power our risk management processes across products. You'll work with large datasets, create insightful dashboards, and support critical projects that help Wealthsimple recover millions of dollars quarterly while ensuring our clients are reimbursed accurately and efficiently. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to

  • Support liquidation team - Work with the liquidation team on processing account debits.

  • Build data infrastructure - Design and maintain SQL queries, dbt models, and analytical frameworks that provide reliable insights into delinquencies, reimbursements, and recovery rates across our products.

  • Create impactful reporting - Develop dashboards and reports in tools like Preset, Metabase, or similar platforms that help stakeholders make informed decisions about risk management and operational priorities.

  • Support data-driven projects - Contribute to initiatives like process automation, data quality improvements, and new product launches by providing analytical support and insights.

  • Analyze trends and patterns - Monitor delinquency metrics, identify anomalies, and surface insights that help the team proactively address risk and optimize recovery strategies.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally - Work with Finance, Treasury, Engineering, and Product teams to understand data needs, troubleshoot reporting issues, and deliver analytical solutions.

  • Ensure data quality - Validate data accuracy, document processes, and maintain data integrity across our reporting systems to support compliance and governance requirements.

  • Grow your skills - Learn from experienced team members, develop your technical expertise, and explore emerging technologies like AI/ML applications in credit risk management.

What you’ll bring:

  • Deep experience in operational optimization, quantitative analysis, or similar roles.

  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools for data analysis.

  • Experience working with large datasets and deriving meaningful insights

  • You're passionate about the fintech and alternative investment space, always curious to dig into day-to-day issues and find smart solutions.

  • You're a detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives under pressure, expertly managing multiple time-sensitive tasks while quickly adapting to challenges in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • You excel at communication and collaboration, working effectively with cross-functional teams and partners.
