About The Role

As a Senior Systems Developer (Python & Linux), you will play a key role in building and evolving the software systems that power our large-format Hylo™ 3D printers and our Basis™ SaaS platform. Reporting to the software leadership team, you will work at the intersection of embedded Linux, manufacturing automation, and cloud-connected hardware. Your work will directly impact the reliability, security, and scalability of our printers, our factory operations, and the tools used by both internal teams and customers. This is a hands-on, broad role with high ownership in a fast-growing hardware and software environment.

What You Will Do

• Design, build, and maintain Python-based systems that run on our printers, including device agents, APIs, and internal services
• Develop and improve our embedded Linux environment, including Yocto-based OS builds, system configuration, and deployment processes
• Build automation and tooling that supports our in-house manufacturing line and factory operations
• Improve and maintain CI and build pipelines, including GitHub Actions and OS build workflows
• Troubleshoot production issues on deployed printers using logs, CLI tools, and remote access, and implement durable fixes
• Design software systems that are maintainable, testable, secure, and resilient, avoiding fragile or ad-hoc solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to solve complex problems
• Create tools and processes that prevent issues and make debugging faster and more reliable when problems do occur

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of professional experience developing production software with Python
• Strong, hands-on experience with Linux systems, including shell scripting, systemd, filesystems, networking, and security
• Experience working with embedded Linux environments, ideally Yocto or similar build systems
• Solid understanding of networking and security concepts, including troubleshooting connectivity issues and reducing attack surfaces
• Experience with virtualization or containerization technologies such as Docker, as well as CI/CD and build tooling
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues using logs, tooling, and systematic problem-solving
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including code structure, testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
• Ability to work in Montreal and be present in the office 3 to 5 days per week for hands-on testing with physical machines
