About Flare
Flare is a breakout cybersecurity SaaS company with a mission to empower organizations to take control of their data and protect their customers, employees, and brand by shedding light on external threats. We enable cybersecurity teams to proactively detect high-risk external exposure across the dark and clear web, before threat actors have a chance to leverage it. We unify the core functionalities of cyber threat intelligence and external attack surface management into a single, intuitive platform.
TL;DR: We are a bunch of nerds who help protect our clients' data (and the people in their networks) by locating cyber risks.
About the role
Flare's research already opens doors. You will own Flare's presence in the sector ISAC ecosystem, serve as a senior public voice on identity-driven threats, and spend real time in the field with customers, prospects, and intelligence-sharing communities.
This is a high-ownership role with broad autonomy. The right person identifies problems independently and drives them to resolution. We can be flexible on the job title for the right candidate.
Your purpose and impact
- Act as a public face of Flare, helping prospects and customers understand why identity is the defining threat of 2026.
- Serve as Flare's primary point of contact across the sector ISACs, contributing research the communities actually use and holding standing as a peer rather than a vendor analyst.
- Stay ahead of emerging and novel threats, and move fast: build talks and briefings on new campaigns while they are still news based on Flare data.
- Join customer and sales calls to help win business, communicating credibly with executive audiences.
- Host weekly threat briefings for our customers on the latest emerging threats.
- Create original research into stealer logs, identity-based threats, dark web and Telegram ecosystems, non-human identity, and emerging attack chains.
- Present that research at conferences, ISAC sessions, and executive briefings, delivering the same finding as board-level risk to a CISO and as tradecraft to practitioners without losing either room.
- Partner with marketing and sales so the research and relationships generate brand and pipeline as a second-order effect.
- Travel extensively. This role lives in the field, with a heavy conference and working-group calendar.
You'll be a perfect fit if
- You already hold trust and standing in one or more sector ISACs.
- You have real, hands-on technical depth in the cybercrime ecosystem: stealer logs, credential and identity threats, underground forums and markets, and the actors and infrastructure behind them.
- You have 10+ years of experience in law enforcement, senior intelligence or security leadership roles.
- You have a track record of original research and a public footprint: published work, conference presentations, media citations.
- You bring threat intelligence experience from a cybersecurity vendor, government cyber, or established independent research.
- You value feedback, embrace radical candor, and are motivated to continually improve.
- You are comfortable with structured processes but thrive in the ambiguity of a startup ("building the plane as it's flying") while holding a high bar for defensible, first-to-market work.
Nice to have
- Sector specialization that complements rather than duplicates our existing coverage (healthcare, financial services, retail).
- History of working closely with product, marketing, or customer success to bring threat insights into strategy.
- Deep threat intelligence or cybercrime experience.
